Biography
Henrique Matsinhe joined the Banco de Moçambique in April 1995 as economist in the Currency and Banking Operations Department and in 2003 was appointed Assistant Director for the Currency Issuing Division in the same Department. In 2003, he was appointed to conduct the National Currency Reform that resulted in the introduction of the new family of Metical (Name of the national currency) in 2006. From 2006 to 2014 he was a director of the Currency and Payment Systems Department and during this period conducted in parallel the process of establishing the Mozambique Interbanking Society - The Single card and electronic payments processing platform that is live since June 2011. From 2015 to March 2018 he was director of the Maputo Branch and from April 2018 Director of the Currency Issuing Department.Presentation
How to increase circulation efficiency - and what role plays financial inclusion in cash circulation in MoçambiqueThe Banco de Moçambique has observed an increasing demand for banknotes in the past years. The efficient management of the notes in circulation is crucial, to supply the enconomy with the required note quantity on time, whilst keeping the cost of circulation as low a possible. At the same time, the financial inclusion of all members of society is equally vital to the economy. This presentation will shed light on how the Banco de Moçambique copes with these challenges in a demanding environment.
